The International Cricket Council (ICC) is reportedly unhappy with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi’s recent comments supporting Bangladesh,The Indian Express has learned. Sources told The Indian Express that if Pakistan follows a similar path and decides not to participate in the tournament, the ICC could impose sanctions. These may include suspension of all bilateral series, denial of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for foreign players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and exclusion from the Asia Cup. “If Pakistan also decides not to play the T20 World Cup, the ICC will impose a series of sanctions, including no bilateral series with any international team, no NOC for foreign players in PSL, and no Asia Cup participation,” a source said. Naqvi had earlier criticized the ICC for “double standards,” saying Bangladesh was treated unfairly. He added that Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup would be decided at the highest government level, pending Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s return from abroad. “Bangladesh has been treated unfairly. One country can make any decision whenever, while it is the opposite …

Rohit Sharma opens up about taking tough calls as skipper, cites example of how he and Rahul Dravid told Shreyas Iyer about exclusion from 2022 Asia Cup, T20 WC | Cricket News

It isn’t a long while ago that Rohit Sharma was the Indian skipper for all three formats, leading the team in competitions like the Asia Cup, T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy. Now, having retired from T20Is and Tests, the former India skipper looked back at some of the tough calls he had to make during his tenure as captain. Talking to JioHotstar’s ‘Captain Rohit Sharma’s Roadmap for T20 World Cup’ show, Rohit opened up about the time where he and then-coach Rahul Dravid had to tell Shreyas Iyer that he would not be a part of the 2022 Asia Cup as well as the 2022 T20 World Cup squad in Australia. Both tournaments did not go well from India’s point of view with the Men in Blue failing to reach the final on both occasions. “There have been many such instances of taking hard calls before World Cups. I think of Shreyas Iyer during the 2022 T20 World Cup. I still remember that we were playing in the West Indies. Rahul bhai and …

‘SIR Has Become An Exercise Of Deletion And Exclusion’: Mamata Banerjee In Letter To CEC Kumar | India News

Last Updated:January 10, 2026, 19:14 IST Mamata Banerjee said ordinary voters were being subjected to coercive hearings over minor issues such as spelling errors or small age discrepancies. In her letter, Banerjee accused the Election Commission of political bias and high-handedness during the exercise. (File) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Saturday and claimed that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the poll-bound state has been turned into an exercise aimed at excluding voters rather than correcting records. In a three-page letter, the Chief Minister accused the Election Commission of political bias and high-handedness, claiming that the process lacked sensitivity and had caused widespread harassment of ordinary voters. “The hearing process has become largely mechanical, driven purely by technical data and is completely devoid of the application of mind, sensitivity and human touch,” Banerjee wrote, adding that the objective of the exercise appeared to be “neither of correction nor of inclusion… but solely of deletion and of exclusion.” She also expressed …

‘There’s a little bit of clarity lacking’: Dinesh Karthik on exclusion of Shubman Gill, Jitesh Sharma from India T20 World Cup squad | Cricket News

‘There’s a little bit of clarity lacking’: Dinesh Karthik on exclusion of Shubman Gill, Jitesh Sharma from India T20 World Cup squad | Cricket News

The huge news coming out of India’s T20 World Cup squad announcement on Saturday was the exclusion of Shubman Gill. Gill, who was appointed both the Test and ODI captain, had returned to the India T20I setup ahead of the Asia Cup in September as the vice-captain but couldn’t fire with the bat. As a result, Axar Patel who Gill had replaced as the vice-captain, was appointed captain Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy for the T20 World Cup. Another omission from the squad was Jitesh Sharma who missed out due to India selecting Ishan Kishan as the second wicket-keeper batter and Rinku Singh also made his way into the squad which ruled out Jitesh who had looked solid in the recent South Africa series. Former India player Dinesh Karthik reacted to India’s World cup squad announcement, saying that there was a little lack of clarity. He, however, lauded the selected squad as one of the strongest heading into the tournament. “The big news of the day: India World Cup T20 squad is announced and guess what? Shubman …

Ashwin slams Nitish Kumar Reddy’s exclusion from IND vs SA ODI in Ranchi

Ashwin slams Nitish Kumar Reddy’s exclusion from IND vs SA ODI in Ranchi

After the Indian bowling unit struggled against South Africa’s middle and lower middle order in the first ODI at the JSCA Cricket Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday, former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has questioned the absence of fast-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy from the playing XI. “If we are not able to find a place for Nitish Kumar Reddy in a team that does not have Hardik Pandya, then there is something wrong in the squad selection, seriously,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. “Why was he picked? Because the fact that he can give what Hardik can give, and can get better over a period of time. But, if we can’t find a place for Nitish Kumar Reddy in this particular XI, then the squad selection must be properly reviewed,” he added. After reducing South Africa to 11 for three by the fifth over, Indian bowlers looked a little clueless against the Protean counter-attack led by Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch as the visitors put up a tough fight in a big chase of …

CJI Gavai Backs Exclusion Of Creamy Layer In SC Reservation: ‘Children Of IAS Officer Can’t…’ | India News

Last Updated:November 16, 2025, 18:24 IST CJI Gavai said he supported the exclusion of creamy layer from reservations to the Scheduled Castes, saying the children of an IAS officer can’t be equated to those of a labourer. Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai. (PTI file photo) Chief Justice of India BR Gavai on Sunday said he still supported the exclusion of the creamy layer in reservations to the Scheduled Castes, saying that children of an IAS officer can not be equated with those of a poor agricultural labourer. Addressing a programme, CJI Gavai said, “I also went further and took a view that the concept of creamy layer, as has been found in the judgment of Indra Sawhney (vs Union of India & Others). What is applicable to the Other Backward Classes should also be made applicable to Scheduled Castes, though my judgment has been widely criticised on that issue.” “But I still hold that judges are not supposed to normally justify their judgments, and I still have about a week to go (retirement),” …

‘Cannot understand how Arshdeep Singh keeps missing out from XI’: R Ashwin expresses frustration with pacer’s exclusion from T20I matches in AUS series | Cricket News

‘Cannot understand how Arshdeep Singh keeps missing out from XI’: R Ashwin expresses frustration with pacer’s exclusion from T20I matches in AUS series | Cricket News

With India preferring to go with Harshit Rana in the playing XI in ongoing T20I series against Australia, pacer Arshdeep Singh has more often than not found himself looking on from the outside. In the first T20I, Singh wasn’t named in the playing XI but the match was washed out. On Friday too, Arshdeep did not feature in the starting XI in Melbourne. Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was frustrated with Arshdeep’s lack of game time and he urged the team management to include the pacer in the team, adding that if he does not get regular game time, he’ll lose his rhythm and turn rusty. “Arshdeep Singh’s name should be the second name on your fast bowlers’ list if Bumrah is playing. If Bumrah is not playing, Arshdeep becomes your first bowler on that team list. I just cannot understand how Arshdeep Singh keeps missing out from the XI in this side. I don’t really get it. Of course, Harshit Rana had a decent day with the bat. He batted decently but this is …

Fan Questions Champions Trophy Winner Washington Sundar’s IPL Exclusion. Sundar Pichai Joins Debate

Representative image© AFP Gujarat Titans had a disappointing start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season as the Shubman Gill-led side slumped to a 11-run loss against Punjab Kings on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer and Shashank Singh were the top performers for PBKS and although Sai Sudarshan played a brilliant 74-run knock, it was not enough to clinch the match for GT. A notable exclusion from the GT playing XI was Indian cricket team all-rounder Washington Sundar. A fan questioned the move on social media and asked how can a talent like Sundar not making the team despite playing for the national side. “How Sundar sneaks into the best 15 of India but doesn’t get a place in any IPL XI when 10 teams exist is a mystery,” the fan posted on social media platform X (formerly called Twitter). The post got a reply from Google CEO Sundar Pichai who commented on the post: “I have been wondering this too.” I have been wondering this too:) — Sundar Pichai (@sundarpichai) March 25, …
