The sanctions target networks operating in India, China, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Germany, Ukraine, and Iran. They are accused of supplying key materials and equipment for Iran’s missile and drone production, including on behalf of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Among those sanctioned, India-based firm Farmlane Private Limited has been highlighted for its involvement in procuring chemicals used in missile propellant, according to the Treasury. The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has called for applications to its undergraduate veterinary programmes for the academic year 2025-26. The forms will be available on the university website from 10 a.m. on Monday till 5 p.m. on June 20, the admissions committee chairman has said. Candidates may log in to https://admin.tnuvas.ac.in to apply. For online applications, guidelines, number of seats reserved for NRIs (Non-Resident Indians)/wards of NRIs/NRI sponsored and foreign nationals quota, candidates may visit https://adm.tanuvas.ac.in. There are 660 seats in seven colleges across the State. Admission to the programme is based on marks scored in Class 12. Aspirants must have taken biology, physics, and chemistry in Class 12. The marks scored in these subjects are used to calculate the cut-off for 200 marks. The university allocates 15% (60 seats) of the total seats to the Veterinary Council of India for students from other States. The University of Mumbai has extended the last date to register for admission to various undergraduate (UG) degree courses in affiliated and autonomous colleges in the state. Earlier set to close on May 23, now the Mumbai University application window for admission to UG programmes will close on May 26. Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy has said it has “become a fashion” in India to talk about artificial intelligence (AI) for everything, emphasising that most “so-called AI things are silly, odd programmes”. Speaking at a TiEcon Mumbai 2025 event on Wednesday, Mr Murthy said, “I think somehow it has become a fashion in India to talk of AI for everything. I have seen several normal, ordinary programmes being touted as AI.” Mr Murthy shared two fundamental principles of AI – machine learning and deep learning. Explaining machine learning, he said, it is “nothing but a large-scale correlation. Based on a large amount of data, it helps you predict.” Deep learning, he said, imitates human brain functioning. The BJP has started a campaign to reach out to members of OBC sub-castes through dozens of meetings and conferences in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly polls in February next year. There are around 52 such sub-castes among the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Delhi that will be included in the contact programme. The campaign has started with a meeting of members of the Pal community attended by Union minister SP Sing Baghel, said Delhi BJP`s OBC Morcha president Sunil Yadav. Earlier, on the eve of the national election of 2019, a programme of cash transfers to farmers (PM-KISAN) was introduced that was also reported to have been influential. As I have been an advocate for cash transfers in the form of a Universal Basic Income (UBI) for nearly two decades, I am often asked if these transfer programmes to women and farmers are in line with my advocacy of UBI. Strictly speaking, these transfers are quite different from UBI for the obvious reason that they are not universal: They are either for special groups of poor women or special classes of farmers (small or marginal farmers, and subject to restrictions relating to earning pensions or paying income tax).
