The senior law officer also said that the Delhi Police order prohibiting assembly and protests in various parts of Delhi has also been withdrawn. Mr. Mehta made the statement before a bench of Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela. The bench was hearing petitions seeking the release of Mr. Wangchuk and his associates as well as challenging the prohibitory order. An allegedly offensive social media post sparked stone pelting and violence in Odisha’s Bhadrak district Friday, leaving some policemen wounded and prompting the district administration to impose prohibitory orders. This is the second time in a week that prohibitory orders have been imposed in the district after a clash between two communities over a torn religious flag on September 19 led to a similar clampdown. As per officials, a Facebook post disparaging a certain religion led to protests in the Puruna Bazar Police Station area Friday. The protests eventually turned violent, prompting the police to resort to lathicharge, they said. In his prohibitory order under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Bhadrak Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manoj Patra said at least two policemen – including a city DSP – were wounded in stone pelting. A six-member ‘fact-finding’ committee of an NGO on Sunday visited three villages in North 24 Parganas’ Sandeshkhali region, which had been at the centre of protests till last month over allegations of sexual harassment of local women and land grab by local TMC leaders. The local residents went on rampage demanding the arrest of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh. After being on the run for 55 days, Sheikh was arrested on Thursday. Led by Former Chief Justice of Patna High Court L Narasimha Reddy, the team visited Majherpara, Natunpara and Naskarpara Ras Temple villages in Sandeshkhali, which falls under the Sunderbans, after getting permission by the Calcutta High Court. Earlier on February 25, the team from Delhi was stopped from visiting the Sandeshkhali by the West Bengal police citing prohibitory orders. The order issued by North Goa district magistrate Sneha Gitte also prohibits processions, possession of firearms, lathis, and other weapons, use of loudspeakers, sloganeering and firecrackers in and around the villages of Mopa, Warkhand, Nagzar and Chandel under the jurisdiction of Mopa Airport police station in Pernem taluka. Authorities have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) around the water bodies in Jammu and Kashmir`s Bhaderwah belt to curb rising pollution, officials said on Sunday. The picturesque Bhaderwah valley, often referred to as `mini-Kashmir`, is grappling with escalating pollution in the absence of an efficient sewerage system. The impact on the once crystal-clear water bodies, including the Neel Ganga river, has prompted local authorities to intervene. Acknowledging the severity of the issue, Doda deputy commissioner has issued orders to book offenders under Section 144, the officials said.
