The Vadodara City Police Thursday notified the closure of two major Railway Overbridges (ROB) for at least a month, beginning Saturday, to undertake the repair work, said an official notification. The Jetalpur bridge and a part of the Lalbaug bridge — connecting Pratapnagar to Vishwamitri — will remain closed to vehicular traffic until February 17. According to the government notification issued Thursday, the road closures had “become necessary to allow the mastic resurfacing work” to be undertaken by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation.  The mastic resurfacing work is the process of repairing cracks and potholes and restoring roads using a hot-poured liquid asphalt. Although the notification states that the bridges will remain closed until February 17, the period of closure “could be revised” based on the completion of the work. The Vadodara City Traffic Police also provided alternate roads to motorists instead of the two bridges that connect major roads.
