Shafali Verma dropped from India’s squad for ODI series vs Australia | Cricket News

Opener Shafali Verma has been dropped from India for the ODI series against Australia. Shaafali, who has had a dismal series at home against New Zealand, where she managed only 56 runs in three innings has been shown the door by the women’s selection committee. The 20-year-old has played 29 T20Is and has scored 644 runs with an average of 23 and has only managed to score four half-centuries. In Shafali’s absence, Priya Punia and Yastika Bhatia can open with Smriti Mandhana. All-rounder Harleen Deol made her comeback after a long injury layoff. The first two ODIs will be held at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane before the action shifts to WACA Ground, Perth for the final match of the series, which is a part of the ICC Women’s Championship.
