Bal had allegedly made an extortion call to a Payal-based arthiya (commission agent) Avinashpreet Singh Jalla following which Giaspura, who is the local MLA and was sitting along with him, took the phone and allegedly spoke to the gangster for nearly 15 minutes. According to the MLA, the gangster threatened him and said: “I will kill you, film and upload a video of it.” In the past one month, the Khanna Police has registered at least three FIRs against Bal and his accomplice Shaganpreet Singh, for allegedly making threat calls to businessmen, commission agents and others in Khanna, Doraha and Payal towns of Ludhiana district. Guwahati, A special mobile application will soon enable the digitisation of manuscripts or books in Assamese language by their owners and link them to one of the largest digital repositories of publications in the language under an ongoing community-driven project. Scan, upload, preserve: Mobile app to decentralise digitisation of Assamese language books The mobile app is aimed at decentralising the digitisation initiative led by the Nanda Talukdar Foundation and supported by the Assam Jatiya Bidyalay Educational and Socio-Economic Trust. Under the ‘Digitising Assam’ project, 2.76 million Assamese archival documents, including books, journals, manuscripts and rare historical records, have already been digitally preserved and are available at assamarchive.org. In the next phase, NTF is preparing to launch a mobile app that will transform ordinary smartphones into scanning devices, foundation secretary Mrinal Talukdar told PTI. “The goal of this innovation is to decentralise digitisation and give it the form of a mass movement across Assam, where people can scan books, journals and manuscripts from their own homes and contribute to this knowledge repository,” he said. Colleges told to upload info on faculty with biometric data

Colleges affiliated to the Anna University will now have to upload details of their faculty with their biometric data. The University has informed the colleges that it would open a portal, where they can fill the details “for validation”. The portal will be open for a month. The varsity will inspect the colleges, and verify the details, a circular issued to principals of the colleges read. The University has also made it mandatory for the Aadhaar of the faculty to be validated, through the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency. It has also provided a list of UIDAI STQC – certified fingerprint scanners in the circular. A few months ago, a non-governmental organisation had exposed that nearly 1,000 persons were registered as faculty in several colleges. Teachers’ associations have also been flagging the issue of non-payment of salaries in many colleges. ChatGPT lets users upload from Google Drive and OneDrive directly

A note from OpenAI says that you may no longer have to download files you have on Google Drive or OneDrive if you want to use ChatGPT to analyze your data. You will be able to add those files directly to the chatbot. The feature, rolling out to paying ChatGPT users over the next few weeks, will save people from the annoyance of having to first download a file and then upload it again on the chatbot. Once they’ve got access to the feature, ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, and Teams users will only need to give the chatbot access to their Google Drive or OneDrive account. OpenAI says in a blog post that the integration means ChatGPT can read through Excel, Word, PowerPoint files, and their Google equivalents “more quickly.” So far, the improved data analytics features are only available through GPT-4o, the faster and improved version of GPT-4 which powers the paid version of the chatbot.  OpenAI also improved ChatGPT’s ability to understand datasets from instructions written in natural language.
