Voters in Uttar Pradesh can now book a phone call with their Booth Level Officer (BLO) to seek help with electoral roll-related issues such as inclusion of names, deletion of incorrect entries, or correction of personal details, ahead of the final publication of the voter list on March 6.

The facility was launched by the Election Commission of India after the draft electoral roll for the state was published on January 6, following the second round of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The draft list excluded 2.89 crore voters and retained 12.55 crore electors. Claims and objections can be submitted till February 6.

According to the EC, voters can access the “Book-a-Call with a BLO” service through the ECI portal (voters.eci.gov.in) or the ECINET mobile application. After logging in with a registered mobile number or signing up via OTP, voters can book a call by entering their EPIC or reference number, or by providing details such as state, district, assembly constituency and booth number. The concerned BLO will contact the voter within 48 hours.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa urged voters to make maximum use of the facility for queries related to the SIR exercise and the electoral roll.

The draft electoral roll shows a nearly 19% drop in the total number of electors—from 15.44 crore to 12.55 crore. Of the deletions, 14.06% were due to voters being absent or having moved, 1.65% were enrolled at multiple locations, and 2.99% were marked as deceased. Of the retained voters, 1.04 crore will receive notices as their mapping has not yet been completed.

As per the SIR daily bulletin, claims and objections are open from January 6 to February 6. Political parties have appointed Booth-Level Agents (BLAs) to collect claims (Form 6) and objections (Form 7). A total of 1,334 claims and objections have been filed by national and state parties so far.

Among national parties, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has submitted the highest number of claims, 1,214, for inclusion of names. The Samajwadi Party filed 82 claims and objections, while the Congress and BSP submitted 19 claims each. No party has sought exclusion of voters so far. Parties such as AAP, CPI(M) and Apna Dal (S) have not submitted any claims or objections yet.

The bulletin added that 32,290 claims and objections were also received directly from electors after the publication of the draft rolls.
