The ongoing probe into the death of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal has brought an emotional response from Siya Goyal’s maternal uncle and aunt, Narendra Mittal and Renu Mittal.
The couple told police that they were shocked by the allegations against Siya, whom they had known since childhood. They said they never imagined she could be involved in such a serious crime.
“We never expected Siya could do something like this. Both Siya and Ketan were humble, well-mannered and good-natured,” Narendra Mittal reportedly told the police, as per IANS reports.
Mittals helped arrange the marriage
According to police sources, the Mittals played a role in bringing the two families together for Siya and Ketan’s marriage. The marriage discussions reportedly began in January 2026, followed by their engagement in February. The couple was scheduled to get married in November.
During questioning, Mittal clarified that his involvement was only limited to introducing the families and helping facilitate the marriage alliance.
Case began as trekking accident
The case came to light after Ketan Agarwal died on June 18 during a trek at Lohagad Fort near Pune.
Initially, his death was treated as an accident after he fell from a cliff. However, doubts were later raised by Ketan’s family over the circumstances surrounding his death, leading police to begin a detailed investigation.
Police allege conspiracy behind death
According to investigators, the probe later focused on Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, who police claim were allegedly in a relationship. Police sources have alleged that Siya considered Ketan an obstacle in that relationship and that the two planned his killing, reported the news agency.
Investigators allege that during the trek, Siya gave a signal to Chaudhary, who then pushed Ketan into a gorge, causing his death. Police have accused both of conspiring in the alleged murder.
Family reactions; Probe continues
Police sources have also claimed that during questioning, Siya allegedly told investigators that she chose not to cancel the marriage because she did not want to hurt her family’s feelings, reported the news agency.
Siya’s brother Sahil Goyal reportedly told police that she first met Chetan during one of his cricket matches and that the two later became close, as per reports.
Meanwhile, Siya’s parents have said they were unaware of any relationship between their daughter and Chaudhary. They added that if she is found guilty, she should face strict punishment, or even one should throw her the same way as Ketan from the fort.
The investigation into Ketan Agarwal’s death is ongoing, with police continuing to examine statements and evidence in the case.
