In a significant operation, Punjab Police have seized 42.9 kg of heroin, four hand grenades, and other ammunition in Amritsar. Authorities suspect these items are linked to cross-border narco-terror networks. The successful operation was credited to actionable intelligence from the Village Defence Committees (VDCs), a state government initiative aimed at enhancing community involvement in internal security and anti-drug campaigns.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that preliminary investigations suggest these narcotics, arms, and explosives were air-dropped via drones from across the international border, pointing towards an organised cross-border narco-terror network.
