Police in Maharashtra’s Latur district have registered an FIR against Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) convenor Abhijeet Dipke and others for allegedly entering a government school without permission, disrupting official work and threatening teachers, reported the PTI.
The case was registered at Ausa police station following a complaint by Sayyed Shamshadbano Khairatali, 53, a teacher at a Zilla Parishad Urdu school.
According to the complaint, the incident took place at the ZP Urdu school in Jawali near Ausa, located more than 500 km from Mumbai.
According to the PTI, Dipke has reportedly been visiting government schools across central Maharashtra’s Latur district as part of the CJP’s ongoing ‘School Thik Karo’ (Improve Government Schools) campaign, during which he has been highlighting problems at schools.
The complaint alleges that Dipke and his associates entered the school without permission and sat among the students. They allegedly questioned students, causing an obstruction to educational activities and government work.
Filmed, shared online
The complaint further alleges that Dipke filmed the proceedings during his visit and later shared the footage on social media.
It also alleges that he made claims about the school, including that students from another school had been brought in and made to sit in classrooms during his visit.
According to the complaint, Dipke also allegedly threatened to have the teachers suspended.
These are allegations contained in the complaint, and the claims have not been established in court.
FIR registered
Police registered the FIR under Sections 132, 329(3), 351(2) and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The sections cited in the FIR relate to alleged use of force or obstruction involving a public servant, house trespass, criminal intimidation and criminal defamation.
Police said that further investigation was underway.
CJP’s ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign
Dipke’s visit was reportedly part of the CJP’s wider ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, through which the party has been raising issues concerning the condition and functioning of government schools in Latur and other parts of central Maharashtra, as per the PTI.
The latest case follows one such visit and centres on allegations that the school was entered without permission and that teachers were threatened and their official work disrupted.
The investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the allegations made in the complaint.
