Deepika Padukone is currently said to be on maternity break. The actress was last seen in Singham Again that released in Diwali, 2024. The actress skipped the promotions of the film as she was expecting her first child. She gave birth to daughter in September 2024 and named her Dua. Since then, there have been a lot of speculations around the actress resuming work soon. Her next big project is Kalki 2898 AD that also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas. Director Nag Ashwin recently dropped a major update about the film and its shooting schedule.
Earlier, it was being reported that the shooting of Kalki 2898 AD will kick-off in summer 2025. However, there has been a delay. At a recent event, Nag Ashwin confirmed that the preparations for the sequel of the magnum-opus are on and the shooting will begin from December 2025. Which means that Deepika Padukone will put an end to her maternity break and be back on sets of a film only in December unless there is another film in the pipeline.
Nag Ashwin also addressed Prabhas‘ less screentime in Kalki 2898 AD and assured fans that the sequel will see more of him. He said, “The second part will have more of Prabhas, as it will be majorly centred around the Karna and Ashwatthama characters.”
While Deepika Padukone is focusing on motherhood, she is making a few public appearances. She recently attended Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2025 show and left everyone stunned with her gorgeous looks. She also walked the ramp to celebrate 25 years of Sabyasachi label in February this year.
Apart from this, Deepika Padukone recently hit headlines with the announcement of Pathaan 2. The movie was recently confirmed with Shah Rukh Khan being the lead. However, as per the reports, the movie will only on floors only next year. Shah Rukh Khan has to finish the shooting of his upcoming film King, after which, the work on Pathaan 2 will begin.
