The survivor in the 2017 Unnao rape case has claimed that her videos are being taken from her husband’s social media account and are being shared publicly with the intent of enabling his identification and killing.

She said that her husband is frightened by such incidents and added that no action has been taken in the matter so far.

“My video is being taken from my husband’s social media account and being shared publicly so that he can be identified and killed… My husband is scared… No action is being taken against that,” she said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Meanwhile, she thanked the Supreme Court for staying the Delhi High Court’s decision that granted the suspension of convict and former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s life sentence in connection with the rape case.

She asserted that her legal battle is far from over and said she would continue to fight until Sengar is awarded the death penalty. Reacting to the top court’s intervention, the survivor told news agency IANS that she had unwavering faith in the Supreme Court and would pursue justice until its logical conclusion.

“I had faith in the Supreme Court that justice would be delivered. My struggle is ongoing and will continue. I have to pursue this until he gets the death penalty, and only then will my father and I get justice,” she said.

The rape survivor also acknowledged the support she received during her prolonged fight for justice.

The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Delhi High Court order that had suspended Sengar’s life imprisonment sentence and granted him bail in the 2017 Unnao rape case.

A three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices JK Maheshwari and Augustine George Masih heard the plea filed by the CBI challenging the High Court order dated December 23, which had granted the bail to the convict pending disposal of his appeal.

The bench extensively questioned the interpretation of a public servant under the POCSO Act.

Chief Justice Kant observed, “We are worried that a constable shall be a public servant under the act, but a member of the legislature will be excluded!”

“Some people are trying to gain political mileage out of this. Do not forget it is the judiciary that convicted him,” the CJI said, adding, “Our message to everyone is to argue inside the court and not outside it.”

“We are not sitting in ivory towers, do not try to browbeat the system,” he added.

“Our doors are open 24 hours, we can hear a matter even at midnight, if the need be,” he said.
