The World Cup 2026 officials play a crucial role behind the scenes, ensuring the tournament runs smoothly and fairly at every level.
With responsibility spanning match officiating, regulations, technology, and operations, they uphold the highest standards of integrity, consistency, and professionalism, allowing players and fans to focus solely on the excitement of the World Cup.
A total of 24 officials will serve as on-field empires, while six officials will serve as the match referees during the group stages of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. However, the officials for Super Eight and Knock out stages will be confirmed later.
On the opening match of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 fixtures played between Pakistan and Netherlands will be officiated by Menon and Sam Nogajski.
Working in close coordination with the T20 World Cup 2026 commentators, the officials ensure that every moment of the tournament is delivered with clarity, accuracy, and complete transparency to fans worldwide.
T20 World Cup 2026 Officials
Kumar Dharmasena and Wayne Knights will be the on-field umpires for the opening match between Pakistan and Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club.
Chris Gaffaney and Richard Illingworth who stood along for the 2024 finals and will be reunite India and Pakistan in Colombo on February 15.
The 24 officials will be on-field umpires during the group stage, with Richard Kettleborough, Ahsan Raza, Langton Rusere and Adrian Holdstock has been returned.
Elite Panel Umpire Nitin Menon will be officiating his 4th T20 World Cup while fellow Indian Anantha Padmanabhan will make his debut in the ICC event in February 07.
