A govt official’s son rammed his Thar into a religious procession in Jaipur on Thursday, injuring several people. The incident took place as a kirtan was going on in the Raja Park area, and an elderly man was among the four injured, according to locals.
Nearly 300 people had gathered during the religious event at 8:30 pm yesterday near Jaipur’s Adarsh Nagar Circle, when the overspeeding jeep rammed into the procession, injuring an elderly man and a child. All attempts by the police to stop the vehicle failed, according to The Times of India. Despite locals reporting injuring, police said no one was injured in the incident.

Locals were outraged by the incident and attacked the vehicle, which was allegedly being driven by a minor. Videos showed people vandalising the jeep and one man climbing on the bonnet and kicking down the windshield.
While the teen driver remained at the site, three of his accomplices, also minors, reportedly fled the site. Members of the Sikh community also staged a protest outside the nearby police station and demanded strict action against the accused.
Police officials then took the minor in custody and assured the protesters that a criminal case would be fired and action would be taken as per law. A team of cops took the Thar vehicle to the Jawahar Nagar police station.
