Kapil Sharma blames ‘multiplex takeovers by other films’ for Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2’s failure amid Dhurandhar storm, film to re-release in January 2026 | Bollywood News

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar has emerged as a blockbuster and even managed to crush other theatrical releases. The Aditya Dhar directorial had one of the widest releases of the year on December 5, dominating the screen count and number of shows as well. On back of word-of-mouth, it has now entered Rs 1000 crore club and refuses to slow down even in its third week. The spy-thriller has been collecting massive box office numbers, compromising the screens allotted to other current films, including, Avatar: Fire and Ash, Zootopia 2, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, and Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2. Now, comedian Kapil Sharma has announced the re-release of his 2015 comedy drama’s sequel in January, 2026.

Kapil’s film — after two weeks of release — has earned about Rs 12 crore at the box office. In comparison, the film’s first iteration made about Rs 49 crore in its lifetime. Kapil’s team released an official statement of the film’s re-release announcement, reasoning limited screen availability for the poor theatrical run. “Audiences were in for a nostalgic ride as Kapil Sharma brought back his much-loved entertainer Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, with a much-awaited sequel. The film opened to positive responses from audiences and critics alike, however, its theatrical run was impacted by limited screen availability due to ongoing multiplex takeovers by other releases,” it read.

It further added, “Even with limited screens, Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 managed to make audiences laugh, entertain and relive the franchise’s charm with its light-hearted comedy and situational humour. Keeping the ongoing excitement of the fans in mind, Producer Mr. Ratan Jain have decided to re-release the film once again in January 2026.”
