Fresh terror posters allegedly from the Falcon Group of the Resistance Front threaten Kashmiri Pandits, prompting KPSS to demand urgent safety measures.

Fresh tension has gripped parts of Kashmir after alleged terror posters surfaced, reportedly warning of attacks on the Kashmiri Pandit community.

The development has triggered concern among members of the minority group, many of whom chose to remain in the valley despite the mass migration of 1990.

The Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti (KPSS), which represents Pandits who did not leave the region, has demanded immediate preventive steps to ensure their safety.

The organisation has also appealed to international human rights bodies to keep a close watch on the situation.

According to reports, posters linked to the so-called Falcon Group of The Resistance Front (TRF), described as a Pakistan-backed terror outfit, recently appeared in parts of the valley.

The posters allegedly threatened to target Kashmiri Pandits, creating fear within the community.

In a statement, the KPSS said the threats “represent a calculated attempt to undermine peace and communal harmony in Kashmir. Such groups thrive on fear and instability, repeatedly projecting the peaceful and indigenous Kashmiri Pandit minority as symbolic targets to sustain their violent relevance.”

The group pointed out that in 2021 and 2022, several targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits had taken place. Security forces later eliminated most of those accused in counter operations. Since then, this is the first time such open threats have reportedly emerged again.

Police officials said they are verifying the authenticity of the posters. However, they stressed that strong security arrangements are already in place to protect minorities.

“We have a robust security arrangement for minorities in place. Both Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF are deployed for the protection and safety of minority pickets,” said Inspector General of Police VK Birdi.

Despite these assurances, KPSS expressed concern over what it described as lapses in preventive security.

“At a time when democratic governance led by the BJP asserts normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, these recurring threats expose serious gaps in preventive security and administrative responsiveness. The continued indifference displayed by sections of the system under the Ministry of Home Affairs and the government of Jammu and Kashmir raises troubling questions about minority protection mechanisms,” the KPSS said.

The organisation further alleged that extremist elements avoid confronting armed forces and instead issue threats to unarmed civilians.

“The persistent targeting of Kashmiri Pandits creates a painful perception that minority lives are being reduced to expendable statistics – whether due to geopolitical narratives or administrative complacency,” it said.

Calling the situation a matter of human rights, the KPSS added, “We urge the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch to closely monitor developments affecting minority safety in Kashmir…”
