Rajasthan Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force has arrested a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi wanted in several cases of extortion from Dubai, officials said Friday.
According to the police, Aditya Jain alias Tony is believed to be a go-between for the Lawrence Bishnoi-Rohit Godara gang and one of the key members facilitating “dabba” calls.
Here’s how the dabba call works. First, a henchman would allegedly use the internet to place an extortion call to his intended victim. Next, he allegedly would place a second call using another phone to his boss sitting in a different country, keep the two phones side-by-side, turn on their speakers, and let his boss do the talking.
According to the police, Jain is wanted in several cases of extortion and firing. A team headed by AGTF Interpol team headed by DIG-CID (CB) Yogesh Yadav and ASP Narottam Verma had an Interpol red notice –a request to global law enforcement agencies to locate and provisionally arrest a person wanted in criminal cases – issued against Jain, police said.
It was based on this that a team of policemen headed by AGTF ASP Siddhant Sharma was sent to Dubai, the police said.
