A 38-year-old woman and her two teenage children died by suicide by jumping in front of a goods train in Hyderabad early Saturday.
The incident took place near Charlapalli railway station shortly after midnight.
According to railway police, the deceased have been identified as Penaty Vijaya and her children, Penaty Chetana Reddy (18) and Penaty Vishal Reddy (17), both students.
The trio was struck by a goods train at around 12.40 am. Their bodies were later shifted to the mortuary at the state-run Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police said the woman worked as a team leader at a private software firm, while her husband is employed in Dubai. Her daughter was studying in Class 12 and her son in Class 11.
Police also recovered a handwritten note from the family’s car, allegedly written by the woman. In the note, she had apologised to her relatives and expressed that she no longer wished to live. She also mentioned fears about leaving her children alone.
The exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
