Claiming that for the first time, the public enmasse has clarity on who to vote for in the Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday urged voters to ensure a lead so massive for the BJP candidate that all Opposition nominees lose their deposits and there is no “magajmari” (brainstorming) in the next elections.
He was speaking at a ‘Modi Parivar Sabha’, an election meeting organised at BJP MLA Hardik Patel’s Assembly constituency of Viramgam in Ahmedabad district, which is a part of the Surendranagar Lok Sabha seat.
Referring to BJP’s election slogan ‘Abki baar 400 par’, Patel termed it as a Jan Andolan (people’s movement), where the voters “themselves want the party win to cross 400 seats”.
In an indirect reference to Opposition leaders. including chief ministers jailed in various cases, he went on to say, “Earlier, before an election, we would ask what scam has been unearthed, today, we are asking which scammer has been sent (to jail) for a scam.”
The gathering saw Hardik and Surendranagar BJP candidate Chandubhai Shihora in attendance, among several others. The meet was organised for the areas of Viramgam, Mandal, Detroj and the area around the Nal Sarovar.
“After so many years, people have absolute clarity this time that they have to vote for BJP by winning over 400 seats and make Narendrabhai the Prime Minister for the third time. Otherwise (in prior elections), people would wonder who to vote for, who not to vote for but this time, in the entire country, everyone’s head is clear… It is a people’s movement,” said Patel.
“There will be 100 per cent voting (voter turnout) because everyone is clear in their head this time (badhanu magaj clear chhe) that by voting for BJP, by making it cross 400 seats, they will make Narendrabhai the PM. None of the deposits should remain (all Opposition candidates should lose deposits) so that there is no magajmaari (brainstorming), there is peace (shanti) forever (with no Opposition),” he added.
Patel further said that earlier, ahead of elections – be it at the district or of Assembly or Lok Sabha – the economic condition of the country was never a talking point. “Look at the big change that has come about in 10 years… we are the fifth biggest economy in the world from 11th, and in this election, we are discussing about bringing India to the third position. And that will be possible if Narendrabhai is brought to power for a third time.”
“Narendrabhai started the entire concept of developmental politics, of performance-based politics. That the one who works, will rule over the country. This change has only come during Narendrabhai’s leadership… Today, whether you are sitting in a small meeting or a big meeting, you all are talking about development… Earlier, government schemes would be made but who would know? People can only benefit from schemes only if they know about the schemes. Today, Narendrabhai believes in saturation (of schemes). There is only one such leadership that thinks about saturation of schemes,” Patel added.
