Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at 10 Janpath in New Delhi on Tuesday and discussed developments in Maharashtra and across the country.
Raut shared details of the meeting in a post on X, saying the two leaders held a detailed discussion on political developments.
In his post, Raut said that meeting Gandhi had strengthened his belief that the Congress leader had moved far ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Discussion on Maharashtra and national issues
According to Raut’s post, the meeting focused on developments in Maharashtra as well as wider national affairs.
The meeting comes amid continuing political activity in Maharashtra, with opposition parties raising several issues concerning the state government and national politics.

They are afraid of Rahul Gandhi: Raut
Meanwhile, Raut on Tuesday defended Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and hit back at Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju over his remarks on Gandhi’s comments about patriarchy and women’s rights.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said he had never seen Gandhi speak against any particular religion, especially Hinduism, and accused the BJP of being “afraid” of the Congress leader.
Speaking to ANI, Raut said Rahul Gandhi had not targeted any particular religion and claimed that the BJP was concerned about his growing political influence.
Sanjay Raut also said Rijiju was not senior enough to make such comments about Gandhi.
“Rahul Gandhi has gone too far now; he’s beyond your control,” Raut said, responding to Rijiju’s criticism.
Rijiju questions congress’ ‘smash patriarchy’ call
Raut’s remarks came after Rijiju questioned the Congress’ call to “smash patriarchy” in a post on X.
Rijiju asked why the party allegedly focused only on Hindu women and questioned whether women from minority communities were also included in its campaign for women’s rights.
He referred to issues such as triple talaq and highlighted the achievements of Indian women in areas including space research, the armed forces and sport, according to the ANI.
Rijiju said women from all communities should be supported and accused the Congress of attempting to divide society.
