The Wk-batter Sam Harper made a stunning century during Melbourne Stars’ 7-wicket victory against Sydney Sixers in the 11th match of the BBL 2025-26 at Sydney.
By this win, Melbourne Stars won their third match in a row and retained their top spot in the BBL 2025-26 points table.
After being invited to bat first, Sydney Sixers’ opener Babar Azam got dismissed cheaply for 2 runs while another opener, Daniel Hughes, made a solid knock.
With Philippe went back to dig out for 10 runs, Hughes scored 60 runs off 42 deliveries before being dismissed by Tom Curran.
With Henriques and Silk contributing little runs in the middle order, the batting line-up collapsed with back-to-back dismissals for single-digit runs.

By the end of 20 overs, Sydney Sixers went on to score only 144 runs, with Tom Curran and Peter Siddle bagging three wickets each and Stoinis ending his spell with 2 wickets.
In the pursuit of chasing a 145-run target, Joe Clarke got dismissed on a duck. With Sam Harper and Campbell Kellaway making a solid partnership, the latter got dismissed for 14 runs.
Joining Sam Harper at the crease, Merlo scored 14 runs before being dismissed by Joel Davies.
In the meantime, Sam Harper slammed a century and went on to remain unbeaten till the end of the chase, scoring 110* runs and helping the side to chase the target in the 18th over.
Sam Harper was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking on the post-match presentation, Harper said, “Yeah, it definitely wasn’t the easiest pitch to bat on. We realised that during our bowling innings – there was something in it for the bowlers – so it was always going to challenge a few of us.”
“But once I got in, I tried to back my shots, and it came off tonight. Yeah, it’s been a bit of a journey,” added Sam Harper.
Melbourne Stars will play their next match against Sydney Thunder on December 28 at Manuka Oval, Canberra.
