The Delhi High Court on Thursday agreed to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the violence that allegedly took place during the July 20 “Chalo Sansad” protest over the alleged NEET paper leak. The petition seeks the transfer of all First Information Reports (FIRs) registered by the Delhi Police in connection with the incident to a specialised investigating agency and requests action against those allegedly involved in the violence. Activist Sonam Wangchuk on Wednesday claimed that the Centre had assured him it would “positively consider” the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as part of efforts to ensure accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak. Delhi Police have registered a total of 10 FIRs across multiple police stations in the national capital in connection with the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protests, officials said on Wednesday. The cases relate to various incidents reported during the demonstrations, including allegations of violence, vandalism, obstruction of public servants from performing their duties and violations of prohibitory orders.
