Two men were arrested in Gurugram for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a delivery boy in broad daylight to recover Rs 6.5 lakh they claimed he had stolen.

The incident occurred in Cyber City, where the accused—identified as Jaiveer and Aman—were caught red-handed following swift action by the Gurugram Police. Police said the duo attacked and abducted the delivery worker over a long-standing financial dispute.

The victim, a delivery worker from Bhiwani, in his complaint to police stated that the incident happened on January 21 at around 5.30 pm. According to a report in India Today, the incident was reported when the delivery boy and his colleague, Pankaj, were returning after delivering company goods. Their path was allegedly blocked near the Suzuki showroom on SBI Road by a car, followed by another vehicle.

The accused duo and their associates allegedly stepped out and began assaulting the victim with a wooden stick. They threatened to kill him before forcibly pushing him into their car and kidnapping him in full public view.

A passerby alerted the police about the kidnapping, prompting the Emergency Vehicle Response (EVR) team to rush to the scene. The accused attempted to flee upon spotting the police but were chased down and apprehended. The police rescued the victim and seized one car and a wooden stick used in the assault.

During interrogation, Jaiveer revealed that the kidnapped man was his friend. He claimed that in 2024, after selling his truck, he had kept Rs 6.5 lakh in his car, which the victim allegedly stole. When his demands for the money went unanswered, Jaiveer plotted the kidnapping to intimidate the victim into returning the amount.

A police spokesperson stated that the accused intended to threaten the victim and recover the money, but their plan failed due to timely police intervention after the victim’s colleague informed authorities. Both accused have been produced before a court, and further legal proceedings are underway.
