The Uttar Pradesh government issued orders to shut down all meat shops on the day of Chaitra Ram Navami (April 6) and also enforce a ban on the sale of meat within a 500-metre radius of religious places during other days as well.
During a review meeting with senior officials on Saturday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised that an Akhand Paath (recitation) of the Ramcharitmanas, which begins on the afternoon of April 5, would conclude at noon on April 6 in the Shri Ramjanmabhoomi temple.
The Chief Minister also pointed out that uninterrupted 24-hour power supply be ensured across the state during Chaitra Navratri.
He ordered the Urban Development and Rural Development Departments to run special cleanliness campaigns, ensuring a clean environment around temples in both cities and villages.
