Out of favour India’s wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan has shown the glimpses of his brilliance during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s intra-squad matches ahead of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting from March 22. Last year’s runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad will open their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 23.
The 26-year-old has smashed 64 off 24 balls and 73 not out off 30 balls in the practice matches. The Jharkhand keeper last played for India in November 2023 against Australia at home before losing his spot across formats after opting for a mental health break.

Ishan Kishan was acquired by SunRisers Hyderabad for a sum of Rs. 11.40 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction held in November last year.
Kishan made his IPL debut in 2016, when Gujarat Lions picked him up at his base price of Rs 35 Lakh. He was roped in by Mumbai Indians in the 2018 Auctions, and was with the side for six years.
Kishan has racked up 2644 runs in 105 outings in the IPL, scoring at a strike rate of 135.87. He has on multiple occasions also been a contender for the Orange Cap.
Ishan Kishan has scored 796 in his 32 T20I outings at a strike rate of 124.37. His most notable feat in international cricket remains his ODI double century against Bangladesh in 2022. Kishan will look to continue playing with his aggressive mindset to try and make a comeback to the international side in T20Is.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has formed one of the most dangerous batting line-ups in the IPL. In Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, they have two of the most destructive openers in their ranks. The duo will be followed by Ishan Kishan, Henrich Klassen and Nitish Kumar Reddy in the middle-order.
Sunrisers Hyderabad squad: Ishan Kishan, Atharva Taide, Abhinav Manohar, Aniket Verma, Sachin Baby, Henrich Klassen, Travis Head, Harshal Patel, Kamindu Mendis, Wiaan Mulder, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins, Mohammad Shami, Rahul Chahar, Adam Zampa, Simarjeet Singh, Zeeshan Ansari, Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga
