BLACKPINK’s Lisa, also known as Lalisa Manobal, is one of the most globally recognised K-pop idols. She is celebrated not just for her immense talent but also for her charismatic stage presence. However, with immense fame comes challenges, and Lisa has often faced distressing encounters with sasaengs—obsessive stalker fans. In a recent interview, she shared a harrowing experience where these individuals severely violated her personal boundaries.
In the interview released on February 27, the K-pop idol spoke with Thai entertainer Woody Milintachinda about various aspects of her professional life. During the conversation, the host asked Lisa if there were any instances from her nearly ten-year-long career that gave her extreme “anxiety.” The Thai rapper and singer immediately talked about sasaeng encounters that had left her shaken.
Recalling an incident from last year, Lisa shared that after landing in South Korea and greeting the fans at the airport, she drove straight to her home, expecting it to be her safe haven. Instead, upon arrival, she found an unknown person waiting for her outside. The unsettling nature of the encounter forced her to speak up, and she told the person that she was not comfortable. She had even asked them to leave.
Despite her composed exterior, Lisa admitted that fear would creep in whenever she checked the CCTV footage of her home, especially when she was alone.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the only unsettling encounter the BLACKPINK star faced. In the interview, she recalled another distressing incident—while getting into a taxi outside her home, an intrusive fan attempted to follow her, even using their leg to block the door from closing. The experience left her so shaken that she asked her female manager to stay with her for a while, just to regain a sense of security.
Lisa’s unsettling experiences haven’t been limited to South Korea. Even at her home in Los Angeles, she has faced similar incidents, leaving her with an ongoing sense of fear for her safety in public spaces.
Despite these challenges, the BLACKPINK star remains focused on her career. She is currently busy promoting her first solo album, Alter Ego, a 15-track project featuring collaborations with international artists like Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Future, and Tyla, among others. Meanwhile, Lisa has also stepped into the world of acting, making her debut in The White Lotus Season 3.
