Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor’s camaraderie was one of the highlights of the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil promotions in 2016. While chatting with Mastiii, the two spilled some candid details about their friendships and relationships. During one particularly fun segment, Ranbir casually dropped a bombshell — Anushka is the undisputed “champion” of friend-zoning people!
Ranbir didn’t stop there. He revealed that one of Anushka’s actor friends had actually fallen for her, but she had friend-zoned him. The revelation left Anushka visibly surprised, but she quickly offered some perspective. She explained that growing up in an army household — her father was in the army — she had always had male friends. For her, it was natural to bond with both boys and girls, and she’d never looked at friendships through a gendered lens.
Ranbir said, “Agar yeh par ladkon ko samajh mein nahi aata hai. Accha, iske saath mujhe pata hai, jo acchi dosti dosti mein unko isse pyaar ho gaya hai. Aur unhone bola ki, ‘Nahi yaar, aisa kuch nahi, main dosti hoon.’” He added, “Main sirf yeh bol dunga uska bhi surname Kapoor hai.”
A surprised Anushka then reacted, saying, “Main na army background se aati hain actually. Toh kya hai bki hum log… Meri aisa hi nahi thi ki meri ladkiya hi friends thi. Hum log kitchen sets ke saath khelte the. Aisa nahi tha. Toh hum log matlab… ladhko ke saath khelte the.”
On the personal front, Anushka Sharma married Indian cricketer Virat Kohli in December 2017 in a private ceremony in Italy. They had been dating for a few years before tying the knot. In January 2021, they welcomed their daughter, Vamika and in February 2024, a boy, Akaay Kohli. The couple has since been enjoying their life as parents, mostly in London, while keeping their personal lives mostly private.
Ranbir Kapoor, on the other hand, is married to actress Alia Bhatt and they have a daughter, Raha Kapoor.
