The Maharashtra government carried out promotions and transfers of IPS officers in the state on Friday and appointed Manoj Kumar Sharma as state Inspector General (IG) in charge of law and order.
Sharma had been on central deputation with the Central Industrial Security Force and had recently joined the state police.
A movie 12th Fail based on the life of Sharma was made in 2023 by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Further, Nikhil Gupta, who was Additional Director General (ADG) Administration, was made the ADG law and order for the state.
Among those promoted includes Yashasvi Yadav, who was promoted to ADG and posted at Maharashtra Cyber.
IG Suhas Warke was made ADG and given charge of prisons while KMM Prasanna was promoted as ADG and given charge of Administration.
Further, additional commissioner (north region) Abhishek Trimukhe and DIG State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Rajiv Jain too were promoted.
