In a tragic incident, over 18 people were killed and several others were injured after a tempo traveller crashed into a truck in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on Sunday.
The accident took place on the Bharat Mala Expressway near Matoda village in Jodhpur’s Falodi. As per the preliminary information, all 18 deceased, belonging to the same family, were returning to Jodhpur after visiting a temple.
The injured were initially taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to Jodhpur via a green corridor for advanced treatment.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed sorrow over the incident. He spoke with the district collector, SP, and other officials over the phone, directing them to ensure that the injured are immediately transported to hospitals via green corridors and receive the best possible medical treatment.
Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot also expressed sorrow over the incident, saying, “I just received the news from Patna about the road accident in Matoda, Falodi, where 18 people have lost their lives. I am deeply saddened to hear this. I pray that God grants the departed souls peace, gives strength to their families, and ensures the injured recover soon.”
