A 46-year-old air hostess has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a staff member while on a ventilator in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Gurugram.
In her complaint to the police, the woman alleged the incident took place on 6 April, a day after she was admitted to the hospital. She claimed that while she was unconscious and receiving treatment in the ICU, a member of the hospital staff sexually assaulted her.
“On April 6, I was on a ventilator when some hospital staff sexually assaulted me,” the woman’s complaint read.
The woman was admitted to the hospital on April 5 after falling ill following a swim in the pool of the hotel where she was staying. She remained under medical care until her discharge on April 9.
After returning home, she informed her husband about the incident, and the couple then approached the police. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Sadar police station against unidentified hospital staff.
A Gurugram Police spokesperson confirmed that the victim’s statement has been recorded before a magistrate and that an investigation is currently underway. CCTV footage from the hospital is being closely reviewed to identify the accused.
“The victim’s statement has been recorded before the magistrate in the court. The police team is examining the footage of the hospital’s CCTV cameras and will soon identify the accused,” the police spokesperson said.
Without revealing the name of the hospital, the police spokesperson stated that the alleged incident took place at a renowned private healthcare facility in the area. He further assured that the accused would be arrested soon.
