TomTom Traffic Index 2023: Bengaluru drops to sixth position as the most congested city in the world
Bengaluru has been ranked as the sixth most congested city in the world according to the TomTom Traffic Index 2023, marking a slight improvement from its second-place position in 2022.
In 2022, the travel time within the city was nearly 30 minutes for a 10km drive. However, there has been an improvement, and the time has now been reduced to 28 minutes for the same distance. The congestion level was recorded at 63%.
Meanwhile, London continues to lead the chart as the most congested city, recording 37 minutes and 20 seconds to cover a distance of 10km. The ‘worst day’ for travelling in the Silicon City in 2023 was Wednesday, September 27, when it took nearly 33 minutes to cover a 10 km distance. The notorious gridlock on September 27 was marked by prolonged congestion, as many Bengalureans were planning to leave the city for an extended weekend. Read more
