Kerala High Court orders KELSA to provide ₹5 lakh to acid attack survivor

The Kerala High Court has directed the Kerala Legal Services Authority (KELSA) to provide ₹5 lakh as interim compensation to an acid attack survivor towards urgent treatment expenses.

The woman was attacked by two persons in 2016 when she was alighting from a car near her house, leaving her with serious burn injuries on her face. She also lost sight in her left eye following the attack.

KELSA had earlier awarded ₹3 lakh to her, and she approached the High Court seeking further ₹15 lakh towards her urgent treatment expenses.
