The West Bengal government on Wednesday appointed Nandini Chakravorty as new Chief Secretary and outgoing Chief Secretary Manoj Pant as personal secretary to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
In a notification issued by the Governor on Wednesday, “The Governor is pleased to appoint Smt. Nandini Chakravorty, IAS (WB:1994), Additional Chief Secretary, Home & Hill Affairs Department with additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Department and Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism Department as Chief Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, until further order vice Dr. Manoj Pant, IAS, retiring on superannuation on 31th December, 2025.”
Nandini Chakraborty is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from West Bengal, known for her extensive roles in the state administration. She has become the first woman Chief Secretary of West Bengal, succeeding Manoj Pant.
Over the course of her career, she has served as Home Secretary, Tourism Secretary, and Principal Secretary to the Governor. Her administrative experience spans multiple sectors, including industry, culture, and governance, and includes stints in the Ministry of Personnel as well as postings as a District Magistrate.
Meanwhile, Manoj Pant has been appointed as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister.
