The terror attack carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba-linked (LeT) on Tuesday that killed 28 people and injured several, including elderly is being termed as the biggest such incident since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, according to intelligence officials speaking to CNN-News18.

They said that unlike previous incidents, tourist destinations in both South and North Kashmir have largely remained untouched by terrorist activities, which makes this attack highly significant.

Intelligence sources confirm that the attack has all the hallmarks of being carried out by foreign terrorists, who are believed to have infiltrated the region in recent months. They point to the desperation of Pakistan-based terror groups, acting under the directives of the Pakistan Army, as the primary motive behind the attack.

The Terrorist Resistance Force (TRF), which claimed responsibility for the attack, is being viewed as a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba, with intelligence agencies asserting that Lashkar is behind the assault.

They further highlighted that a significant number of terrorists remain stationed across the border in the Kotli area, where they are waiting for an opportunity to launch attacks in Indian territory. These launching pads are believed to be a key source of infiltration for these terror groups and security forces are now on high alert.
