Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon inaugurate the Rayanapadu railway station, which has been refurbished under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The Indian Railways has redeveloped the station at a cost of ₹19.90 crore in the first phase of the scheme, said Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM Infrastructure) P.E. Edwin.

“Waiting halls, vast circulating area, reservation and booking counters, separate facilities for divyangjan passengers, modular toilets, drinking water and other facilities have been provided at the Rayanapadu station,” Mr. Edwin said after inspecting the first phase works, along with divisional engineer (East) Mayank Upadhyay.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager B. Prasantha Kumar said that Rayanapadu station was one among the 21 stations being developed under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in the Vijayawada division.

“The second and third platforms at Rayanapadu station will be developed in the second phase of the scheme. Plans are afoot to enhance connectivity to Gannavaram, Gunadala and Kondapalli railway stations to decrease the burden on Vijayawada railway station,” the Senior DCM said.

Officials of the South Central Railway (SCR) are holding talks with the State government to improve transportation and other facilities to Rayanapadu, Gannavaram and Gunadala railway stations, said public relations officer Nusrat M. Mandrupkar.
