Video of ‘dangerous’ car stunt on busy Delhi road goes viral; driver slapped with Rs 12k fine | Delhi News

Yet another video of a dangerous stunt performed on a busy Delhi road has gone viral — this time, of a man in a black Mahindra Scorpio SUV, with tinted windows, performing perilous manoeuvers.

The video, circulated widely on X on April 3, showed the car, zig-zagging across lanes on a busy road and, at one point, standing perpendicular to oncoming traffic.

It soon came to the attention of the social media team of the Northeast district of Delhi Police and a team from the Shastri Park police station immediately swung into action. They intercepted the aforementioned vehicle later that evening at GT Road, coincidentally, where the viral reel was shot a few days ago.

Upon inspection, police found that a 22-year-old man, Anshul Chaudhary, a resident of Kaushambi in Ghaziabad, was behind the wheel. He was challaned and the vehicle, sporting Z-Black tinted windows and a “fancy registration number plate”, was taken to the police station.

Police said Chaudhary had engaged in these dangerous activities with the sole intention of garnering attention on social media platforms.

Festive offer

The tinted windows were removed and police imposed multiple challans under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act — including charges for tinted windows, driving against the authorised flow of traffic, and defective or fancy number plates — amounting to a total of Rs 12,000.

In light of this incident, the Delhi Police issued a stern appeal to all citizens, particularly the youth, to refrain from engaging in such reckless behaviour. They emphasised the importance of responsible conduct on the roads and cautioned against seeking fame through hazardous activities.

Last month, a viral video showed two men — social media influencers — stopping their gold-coloured pickup truck in the middle of Outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar flyover and getting out of the vehicle to pose in front of it in a bid to shoot a video for social media. The driver was later nabbed.
