Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday reviewed the state’s preparedness on Wednesday ahead of a civil defence mock drill, carried out as a measure of preparedness in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. At a state cabinet meeting chaired by Patel, he instructed all ministers and in-charge secretaries to help district administrations in implementing guidelines issued to states by the Union Home Ministry.
CM Patel instructed cabinet ministers to assess the preparedness of district administrations and monitor progress on mock drill activities in their respective districts. He mentioned that the mock drill should not cause panic among citizens, clarifying that its purpose is to raise awareness about security and safety measures.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed citizens’ responsibilities in the statewide mock drill. Citizens were advised to cover windows with thick curtains, turn off all lights, and avoid using mobile phones or other light-emitting devices near windows during blackout.
At the meeting, Gujarat government also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the security forces on the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’, carried out in response to the Pahalgam attack.
Shah holds meet with CMs, others
CM Patel also attended a meeting held by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday with Chief Ministers and other government officials concerned of various states. The CMs of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, and West Bengal, along with Lieutenant Governors of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh were also in attendance. The Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police (DGPs) of the said states were also present at the meeting.
