AIADMK expels functionary who filed nominations for Erode East bypoll

The AIADMK on Sunday (January 19, 2025) expelled its functionary, who filed his nomination as an independent candidate for the Erode East bypoll. The AIADMK had boycotted the bypoll scheduled on February 5.

A party release by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami said B. Senthil Murugan had entered the fray despite the party decision to boycott the bypoll and his actions were disrepute to the party.

Mr. Senthil Murugan was joint secretary in the AIADMK’s MGR youth wing in Erode before his expulsion. The AIADMK boycotted the bypoll alleging that the ruling DMK government would misuse its authority in influencing the electoral outcome.
