Delhi News Live Updates: Delhi Police have intensified patrolling in the Capital after a row erupted over the expansion of a mosque in the Brahmpuri area of Northeast Delhi. The construction of a new entrance of the Al Mateen Masjid, resumed in February this year after the mosque’s trustees secured approval from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). However, a complaint was filed on February 13, alleging unauthorised construction, following which the MCD issued a show cause notice halting the work. As many as 21 residents on Monday filed a complaint alleging stone-pelting on the night of March 2-3.

Meanwhile, the first draw of lots for admissions under the Economic Weaker Section (EWS) category for the academic session 2025-26 will be held in the Conference Room of the Education Department at the Old Secretariat at 2.30 pm today. Delhi’s Education Minister Ashish Sood said the process will be completely transparent and conducted in the presence of parents and media representatives.

A fortnight after a stampede occurred at the New Delhi Railway Station killing 18 people, five senior officials, including the Delhi Divisional Railway Manager, Additional DRM and Assistant Security Commissioner of the Railway Protection Force, were transferred on Tuesday. “Though they have been transferred through administrative orders without mentioning any immediate reasons, the timings of transfer apparently establishes a link with the stampede,” a railway official told PTI.
