Continuing its targeted action against weapon suppliers, absconders, drug peddlers, thieves, gamblers and liquor smugglers, under the Haryana government’s “Operation Hotspot Domination”, the Panchkula police has arrested 29 accused over the last four days in a coordinated operation across 101 identified hotspots in the district.
The action significantly tightened security in sensitive areas, police said. According to the officials, teams from the Crime Branch, all police stations and checkpoints jointly conducted intensive combing operations.
Police seized one country-made pistol, one live cartridge, six suspicious motorcycles, Rs 1.18 lakh cash, a tanker, and 80 bottles of illicit liquor during the raids. Two gun houses were also inspected to verify licences, compliance records and storage norms. The police have further sent a proposal to cancel the passport of one absconding accused to prevent him from escaping abroad.
Officials said among the 28 arrested in the general crackdown, nine were long-time absconders involved in violent and serious offences, who had been evading arrest for months.
Drug supplier arrested with 1,320 tablets
In a parallel action under the same operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Panchkula arrested a 24-year-old drug supplier, recovering a commercial quantity of 1,320 Lomotil tablets from his possession. The accused, Karan Kumar, was arrested near the Sukhomajri bypass on the Pinjore–Baddi Highway following a tip-off. He had no licence to possess the controlled medicine, police said.
A case under Sections 22(C) and 27(A) of the NDPS Act has been registered, and he has been remanded in two days of police custody. Police aim to trace his suppliers, buyers and the wider distribution network.
