The Hauz Khas police in Delhi have filed a fresh case after a woman doctor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), who had earlier filed a rape case against another doctor at the hospital, alleged that she was being threatened to drop the case.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the 39-year-old woman said that on Friday, when she was on her way to the hospital, she received two phone calls from an unknown number. “The caller threatened me and asked me to take back the rape case I had filed… He said he will shoot me dead and also said he knew about my whereabouts and timings. I was shocked, scared and immediately dialled 112 and informed the police,” she stated.
The woman said she informed the local police station as well as the Hauz Khas police where the case was registered. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case under sections 232(1) and 351(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) which pertain to threatening and intimidating a person.
The woman had in July 2023 filed a case against the doctor accusing him of rape, unnatural offence, causing miscarriage without consent and criminal intimidation. The case is currently ongoing and framing of charges is set to take place on April 16.
Speaking to The Indian Express, the woman said, “In December 2024 as well I had informed the police against the threats being given at the hospital and in person by (the doctor) and his men following which a case was registered. Not just me, even my family members were threatened. His men reached my house in Ghaziabad.”
She also accused the police officials at the station of being cooperative and shielding the accused.
Ankit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, has yet to respond to calls or texts in connection with the latest case.
