Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday accused the Central government of attempting to suppress the voices of young people by cracking down on protests in support of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on an indefinite hunger strike over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.
Addressing protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, Raut criticised the police action against demonstrators and alleged that the government was fearful of growing public support for the youth-led movement.
