The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has successfully graduated its first batch of Mahila Quick Reaction Team (QRT) commandos, marking a major step towards increasing the role of women in specialised security operations.
The passing out ceremony was held on July 28, 2026 at the 10th Reserve Battalion in Bengaluru, which has now been designated as the CISF’s official Mahila QRT Training Centre.
According to an official statement, the women commandos underwent intensive training designed to prepare them for high-risk security situations.
The course included:
– Tactical operations and close-quarter battle (CQB) techniques.
– Counter-terrorism drills.
– Rapid response operations.
– Reflex firing and advanced weapons handling.
– Emergency deployment to protect critical infrastructure.
The training aims to equip the commandos to respond quickly and effectively during security emergencies.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Additional Director General (Airport Sector) Binita Thakur, IPS, who congratulated the trainees on successfully completing the demanding course.
She said the programme represented an important shift in the role of women within India’s internal security framework, adding that women are now taking frontline operational responsibilities rather than serving only in supporting roles.
She also encouraged the newly trained commandos to become role models for future generations of women joining the security forces.
New training facility inaugurated
During the visit, ADG Thakur also inaugurated a dedicated Quick Reaction Team Training Area at the battalion.
The new facility has been designed to simulate real-life operational situations, allowing commandos to train in realistic environments before deployment.
The first Mahila QRT course forms part of the CISF’s wider efforts to increase women’s participation in specialised operational duties.
The force had earlier launched its first all-women commando training programme at the Regional Training Centre in Barwaha. More recently, 22 women personnel were inducted into the Quick Reaction Team Wing at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Women Quick Reaction Teams are also deployed at airports and other high-security installations protected by the CISF.

With the highest proportion of women personnel among India’s Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the CISF continues to expand opportunities for women through advanced training, leadership development and operational assignments.
Officials said the establishment of the Mahila QRT Training Centre reflects the force’s commitment to building a modern, highly skilled and gender-inclusive security organisation capable of meeting evolving security challenges.
