A woman and her two young daughters died after a fire broke out in a residential building in south Delhi’s Lodhi Colony area on Tuesday, officials said, reported the PTI.
The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) and police received information about the blaze at around 10.20 am at a house opposite Chawla Sweets in BK Dutt Colony, under the Lodhi Road police station area.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 11.10 am.
Police said three people were found dead inside the third-floor flat.
The deceased have been identified as Akansha Sharma (40), Aradhya Sharma (12), also known as Mitzy, and Mihika Sharma (8), also known as Ritzy, the news agnecy reported.
Investigation underway
At the time of the incident, other members of the family, including her husband Mohit Sharma, were on the second floor of the building.
Police said there were no immediate signs of foul play, but all possible angles are being investigated, according to the PTI.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been established.
Forensic teams inspect scene
The crime team and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examined the scene as part of the investigation.
Authorities said the family has been informed, and assistance is being provided.
The Delhi Fire Services deployed one water tender, one water bowser and one breathing apparatus tender to tackle the blaze.
Officials said the fire had engulfed the third-floor residence, and cooling operations continued after the flames were extinguished to prevent the fire from reigniting.
Fire breaks out in Hari Nagar residential parking lot
A massive fire broke out in the parking area of a residential building in Delhi’s Hari Nagar area on Tuesday morning, triggering two cylinder explosions and damaging four vehicles. Quick response from emergency services led to the safe rescue of eight residents trapped by the flames, reported the ANI.
A Delhi Fire Service official said, “A massive fire broke out in a building’s parking area in Hari Nagar’s Fateh Nagar this morning. Two cylinders exploded; four vehicles were damaged due to the fire. Firefighters rescued as many as eight people.”
